Government Support of the Gay Agenda
Summer 1998 Report
Surely, we are nearing the end of
time! Our beloved nation is turning into a government-sponsored Sodom.
According
to the Bible, men and women are only to marry one another. This is
God’s standard for mankind.
“God created man in His own
image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He
them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and
multiply, and replenish the earth.”—Genesis 1:27-28.
“The Lord God said, It is not
good that the man should be alone. I will make him an help meet for him
. .
“The Lord God . . made . . a
woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is
now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh . .
“Therefore shall a man leave his
father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife, and they shall be
one flesh.”—Genesis 2:18, 22-24.
In order to remove any doubt
regarding the matter, we are told this about those who would conduct
themselves differently:
“Wherefore God also gave them up
to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their
own bodies between themselves. Who changed the truth of God into a lie,
and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator . .
“For this cause God gave them up
unto vile affections, for even their women did change the natural use
into that which is against nature.
“And likewise also the men,
leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward
another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in
themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
“And even as they did not like
to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate
mind, to do those things which are not convenient.”—Romans
1:24-28.
We are also told what will
happen to the nation which becomes a cesspool of iniquity.
Rather early in this earth’s history, the God of heaven burned a hole
into the ground where there previously stood cities which had corrupted
themselves. That hollowed-out place has remained down to the present
time—as the deepest continental location on the planet. Men of science
cannot explain why it should be so deep, but the Bible tells us why (Genesis
18 and 19).
The God
of heaven has not changed. He will not tolerate iniquity.
We must pray that men and women will return to God before it is too
late.
Unfortunately,
our own nation is today rapidly moving on the downward path in regard to
abortion, gambling, drunkeness, governmental bribery, and industrial and
labor union corruption.
Let us
briefly consider the latest developments in the downward trend toward
U.S. governmental support of homosexuals:
In
September 1996,
the U.S. Senate came within a single vote of passing the Employment
Non-Discrimination Act, which would have produced terrible
conditions in the nation. This legislation would have made sexual
orientation a protected class—equivalent to racial minorities under
federal civil rights laws (Jon Frandsen and Fredreka Schouten,
“Senate Votes against Same-Sex Marriage, Rejects Anti-Gay
Discrimination Bill,” Gannett News Service, September 10, 1996)!
It had been
expected that the same bill would soon be once again presented to
Congress for passage. More on this later in this report.
On May 30, 1997,
President Clinton quietly canceled President Ronald Reagan’s executive
order supporting and defending the institution of the family (Cheryl
Wetzstein, “Clinton Kills Order Protecting Families,” The Washington
Times, May 30, 1997).
On November 8, 1997,
President Clinton spoke at a fund-raising dinner on behalf of a
homosexual activist organization dedicated to the radical gay and
lesbian agenda. It was the first time in U.S. history that a sitting
president had given the status and authority of his office to a group
defined by their sexual behavior. During his speech, after
mentioning Thomas Jefferson, Clinton declared, “We are redefining in
practical terms the immutable ideals [of the founders of our nation]
that have guided us from the beginning” (William J. Clinton, speech
at Human Rights Campaign Dinner, Grand Hyatt Hotel, Washington, D.C.,
November 8, 1997).
At that
dinner, Clinton called for a revamping of the nation’s school
curricula to include homosexual propaganda in the classrooms,
assemblies, and publications made available to children—yet not
one Washington, D.C. legislator spoke up the next day—or any day
thereafter—about that speech.
In that same speech, Clinton
bragged that his administration had allocated more money for AIDS
research than to breast or prostate cancer combined (ibid).
To clarify
this point, in fiscal year 1994, here is the amount of money spent by
the federal government per death on each of the five deadliest
diseases: HIV-AIDS - $39,172 / diabetes - $5,449 / cancer - $3,776 /
heart disease - $1,056 / stroke - $765 (Folder, “Research Funding
Dollars spent per Death,” Department of Health and Human Services, FY
1994).
Two days later, on November 10,
1997, a “hate crimes” conference was convened by the White House
in the District at George Washington University. At this conference Clinton
declared, in a speech, that public schools across the nation should
initiate pro-homosexual diversity programs. The objective of these
programs, he said, must be “to teach [children] a different way”
(W.J. Clinton, quoted in Paul Bedard, “Clinton Urges School
Diversity Training,” Washington Times, November 11, 1997).
No protest
was afterward heard in the halls of Congress. Indeed, only one national
figure spoke up against this affront to our children—William Bennett,
former drug czar under President Reagan (William Bennett, “Clinton,
Gays and the Truth,” The Weekly Standard, November 24, 1997).
On May 28, 1998,
Bill Clinton issued an executive order, establishing the equivalent of
an affirmative action program for homosexuals throughout the executive
branch of the federal government. This action was carefully timed to
occur over the Memorial Day weekend when most congressmen were out of
town. The wording of the executive order guarantees that those who
claim to be homosexuals will henceforth be given preferential treatment
in governmental hiring, firing, and other job-related activities.
For example, if two men are applying for the same position, a government
official will risk a lawsuit if he gives the job to the one who is not
gay. Henceforth, in all government jobs throughout the nation, all the
civil rights policies which have applied to minorities will now be
enforced on behalf of homosexuals. Intimidation of government officials,
backed by the threat of costly legal battles, will bring the U.S. civil
service to its knees in subservience to homosexuals.
Immediately after signing that
executive order, Clinton announced that he would again seek passage in
Congress of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act
(ENDA), the same bill which the Senate defeated by only one vote in
September 1996.
It may be
voted on soon. If enacted, it will broaden Clinton’s executive
order—to include not just government offices, but every business in
America!
Does anyone speak up? Hardly a
soul. One of the very few was Trent Lott. On June 15, 1998, when asked
if he considered homosexuality to be a sin, Senate Majority leader,
Trent Lott, said “Yes, it is, . .” In America right now, there’s
an element that wants to make that alternative lifestyle acceptable” (New
York Times, June 16, 1998). In retaliation, the public press
attacked Lott as an evil bigot.
Only one
denomination in America has come out in extremely strong denunciation of
homosexuality and other vices. No, it was not ours.
On June
9-11, 1998, at the annual convention in Salt Lake City of the Southern
Baptists, a resolution was passed which condemned Clinton’s May 28
executive order.
In addition, that convention of
Southern Baptists passed resolutions condemning the placement of women
in combat units and government support of the National Endowment for the
Arts. Another resolution declared that public officials should be moral!
Yet our own
people are silent on such issues which is taking our nation down the
drain.
Throughout
the country, homosexuals are battling in state courthouses for
legalization of same-sex marriages.
In November, the question will come to a vote again in Hawaii. It
is expected to be a close contest, and the gays may win.
The Vermont
Supreme Court is poised to hear arguments in favor of same-sex marriages
for that state. Since those particular judges are very liberal, they
are likely to force legalized homosexual marriages on the state.
That
will, in turn, force it on many other states in the nation.
Why? Because most states have laws on their books that they will
recognize any marriage performed in another state. California,
the largest state of all in population, is one of those states. It has a
126-year-old law mandating recognition and validation of all
out-of-state marriages. It is the most influential state in the nation.
However,
with such a threat facing them, within the last couple years a number of
states have enacted Defense of Marriage Acts.
Here are
the 29 states which are now so protected:
Alabama, Alaska, Arizona,
Arkansas, Deleware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa,
Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi,
Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South
Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, Utah, and Washington.
But there
are still 21 states where such legislation is either pending, under
court challenge, or has been defeated,
Here are
these states:
California, Colorado, Connecticut,
Hawaii, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nebraska, Nevada, New
Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island,
Texas, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
Is the
United States alone in this homosexual takeover of national governments?
What is happening elsewhere?
The homosexual agenda is even
more successful in Canada. It is becoming
illegal to even criticize the movement. Several Canadian provinces
have enacted human rights legislation that prohibits the publication
of any statements deemed as “discriminatory” toward homosexuality
(Norm Ovenden, “Supreme Court Blasts Alberta over Gay Rights,”
Ottawa Citizen, November 5, 1997).
The Canadian Radio, Television,
and Telecommunications Commission
(equivalent to our Federal Communications Commission) now monitors
all programming which portrays homosexuality in a negative light (Religion
Roundup, Ottawa Citizen, November 5, 1997).
In early summer 1997, the
British Columbia College of Teachers refused to accredit a teacher
education program offered by Trinity
Western University (a Christian school). TWU was charged with having
violated their mandate. TWU was still requiring its students to sign a
code of conduct which, among other things, prohibits homosexual
behavior. When asked about the problem, a BCCT attorney said that
students “need to be exposed to other lifestyles” in order to have a
better balance in their lives (Sandra Thomas, “Christian University
Sues B.C. Teachers’ College,” Vancouver Sun, May 8, 1997).
Then there is King’s College in
Edmonton. This Christian school had fired a lab instructor because of
his openly homosexual conduct. The man filed suit against the province
of Alberta, charging that it had refused to extend human rights
protection to homosexuality.
In April
1998, the Canadian Supreme Court ruled that legal protection (i.e.,
preference) must be extended immediately
to Albert’s homosexual community, and that sexual orientation must be
included in the province’s Human Rights Code. In commenting on
the decision, one Supreme Court justice said this: “I believe that
judicial intervention is warranted to correct a democratic process that
has acted improperly” (Norm Ovenden, “Provinces Must Protect Gays
against Bias,” Ottwa Citizen, April 3, 1998).
An
astounded political science teacher at the University of Calgary said
that the ruling would not only suppress hiring policies,—but also
religious belief and even freedom of association in the nation.
“There will be strong pressures
to define and isolate any private—especially
religion-based—educational institutions that do not embrace ‘gay
positive’ policies. The argument has already been made before the
courts in Canada that ‘equality rights’ are more important than
freedom of religion and freedom of association.”—Ted Morton,
Ph.D., “Decision Opens the Door for More Challenges,” Calgary
Herald, April 4, 1998.
In April 1998, the Supreme Court
of Canada ruled that the traditional definition of “spouse” is
unconstitutional! The court demanded that
the federal Income Tax Act be rewritten to include same-sex
partners (“Ontario Court Advances Recognition of Same-Sex
Couples,” Associated Press, April 24, 1998).
Apparently, in order to
encourage sex by smaller children with adults, the age of consent in
Canada has been lowered to 14! Very
immature boys and girls are now at the mercy of adults who would exploit
them for sexual purposes, knowing that the children are less likely to
transmit HIV to them (“Age of Consent Comparatively Low,” Ottawa
Citizen, December 10, 1997).
Is Canada
becoming a nation given over to perversion? Consider Europe:
In the Netherlands,
where prostitution, pornography, and pedophilia are already rampant and
generally legal (Amsterdam alone has 10,000 professional prostitutes; an
equal number are in Las Vegas!), the Dutch government recently
enacted a law that homosexuals could marry one another and have the same
inheritance and tax rights as normal couples (Debbie Price,
“Roads to Equality: Gay Rights in Europe,” Detroit News, October 29,
1997).
The
Netherlands is also in the process of lowering the legal age of consent
from 14 to 12 years of age!
It is not enough to destroy the adults, but the children must be ruined
also (Robert Hondsmerk, Sterling Chris, April 27, 1998).
Meanwhile, in Britain,
the militant gay lobby is urging passage of laws more favorable to
themselves. At this time, Parliament is planning to reduce the age of
consent for homosexual intercourse between “adult” males from 18 to
16. The age of consent is already down to 16 or 14 in several other
nations of Europe, including Sweden.
The
homosexual agenda, if carried through to completion, will destroy the
well-being of society everywhere.
Any change in the traditional understanding of the family will undermine
its legal foundation and render it meaningless. If marriage can occur
between two men or two women, then it can occur between three men and
six women. Polygamy will be legalized soon after. It was 116
years ago that Congress outlawed polygamy in the United States. Now we
are going to return to it—and worse. (In July 1998, the governor of
Utah publicly declared that polygamy, widely practiced without penalty
especially in southern Utah, should be legalized.) Incest and bestiality
will be condoned. The entire world is becoming a sink of corruption.
“All that is necessary for evil
to triumph is for good men to do nothing.”—Edmond Burke, the
English parliamentarian.
We are nearing the end of time!
Only a little time can remain, before God steps in.
In closing this study, here are several passages which I culled from the
Bible. They help orient us as to our situation and duty in these last
days:
“Thy Word is a lamp unto my
feet, and a light unto my path.”—Psalm 119:105.
“For ever, O Lord, Thy Word is
settled in heaven.”—Psalm 119:89.
“I am the Lord; I change
not.”—Malachi 3:6.
“Rivers of waters run down mine
eyes, because they keep not Thy law.”—Psalm 119:136.
“The Lord looked down from
heaven, upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did
understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together
become filthy: there is none that doeth good.”—Psalm 14:2-3.
“There is no fear of God before
their eyes.”—Romans 3:18.
“It is time for Thee, Lord, to
work: for they have made void Thy law.”—Psalm 119:126.
“My Spirit shall not always
strive with men.”—Genesis 6:3.
“If thou hadst known, even thou,
at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! But
now they are hid from thine eyes!”—Luke 19:42.
“And it come to pass, when he
heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart,
saying, I shall have peace though I walk in the imagination of mine
heart, to add drunkenness to thirst.
“The Lord will not spare him,
but then the anger of the Lord and His jealousy shall smoke against that
man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon
him, and the Lord shall blot out his name from under heaven.”—Deuteronomy
29:19-20.
“Set a mark upon the foreheads
of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done
in the midst thereof.”—Ezekiel 9:4.
“And it repented the Lord that
He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His heart. And the
Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created.”—Genesis
6:6-7.
“And spared not the old world,
but saved Noah.”—2 Peter 2:5.
Will you and I be among the
faithful who go through to the end? Only by resolute trust in God, and
obedience, through the grace of Christ to the Ten Commandments, will
anyone be saved.
Enoch lived in a corrupt generation, and yet God
enabled him to live a morally clean life. Men and women can do the same
today.
